So I was commissioned in to write an oral history of what was then called the Gay and Lesbian Civil Rights Movement. The rapper was diagnosed with AIDS and through complications of the virus. The year-old rapper, whose real name was Eric Wright, said that he wasn’t gay and that he didn’t know how he caught the HIV virus that causes AIDS. Eazy-E is often referred to as the "Godfather of Gangsta Rap". HIV and AIDS can be transmitted through heterosexual or homosexual relations.
